I have tried various compatibility settings for ARM and it they appear to make little difference. We have a new Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 computer, running Windows 11. When we try to use the Sky go app on the computer it does not work properly. Also rather than rely on third party websites for lists of included channels it’s usually best to rely on the information directly from Sky. I have tried removed Both these number are automated.
How do i speak to a human
- I guess there are no options for this right?
- Seems a backward step to keep SD and close HD channels on satellite.
- But the issues with the system started to grate on myself and family right from the start.
- It also eliminates a dodgy Ethernet cable or malfunctioning switch as the cause of your issues ……
You are proabably aware, but always worth mentioning. The puck much like a Sky Q box can for some customers suffer from interference in a number of ways at times. Generally, I like the home screen of Sky OS, with its relatively snappy navigation; it does a good job of recommending content you may be interested in, particularly as it starts to learn your viewing habits. There are endless hours of content to choose from. Others may give you more detailed reply’s but a good strong internet connection is vital. Not just your internet speed but whether you are connected via an Ethernet cable or not. If all this is in place, you will find it different to Q as everything is web based a bit like using a streaming service although you can get the usual terrestrial channels.
Re: My Sky Glass Air Review
The only problem with that idea is that I don’t get why UKTV would be trying to discourage people from watching on satellite. Actually disappointed the Pride channels aren’t lasting all of June, or even maybe a bit longer than a few days. ( I’ve read a few forum lnks, same problem, though no apparent answer). Sky Go for Windows 11 is broken for me as well, since the latest app update. Exactly the same symptoms as the original poster, i.e. on-screen controls are ‘frozen’ in place and cannot be interacted with, do not obey window resizing etc.
So a week ago I went through a long hour telephone call with sky and their technical support and we all agreed that the hardware was the problem and nothing else. The tech support could see all the issues being experienced on my hardware and all the rebooting we have had to experience. I have a very differing opinion on sky stream coming from a technical background, I find the sky stream boxes are, cheap and antiquated. For at home and out of the home you would use the Sky Go app to watch live channels and Sky On demand content. Then there is also consumer habits, are they watching the linear or streaming the content. The issue is the sky go app not being updated, not windows 11.
I paid £50 in February for an engineer and it worked, until now.
For all third-party apps available on Sky OS, you need to open and sign in to each app individually. This is a relatively simple process for most apps, as you can scan a QR code displayed on the screen and then sign in using your mobile device. However, this is an annoyance if you have Whole Home and have already logged into each app on a Sky Stream puck or another Sky Glass. Completing this process for the number of available apps was more time-consuming than initially installing and setting up the TV. Sky Signature includes BoxSets and Entertainment channels only in SD as standard.Only free to air channels such as BBC, ITV etc are in HD. The Q HD pack is required for all other Sky Signature HD content, including Catch Up in HD, On Demand in HD and BoxSets in HDSky Ultimate TV was the additional Netflix package.
- The Playlist where you effectively record progams can be tailored for different members of you family so you can all have your own or joint ones.
- I’ve started using the apps built into the TV because I’m sick of it.
- I built my system and have 65gb RAM, 24gb Graphics Card teamed up with and i9 Processor and have the same issues.
- When we try to use the Sky go app on the computer it does not work properly.
Discussion topic: Is there a phone number to contact sky where you can actually speak to a person. p
I have 350mb broadband and the stream is hard wired. Seems a backward step to keep SD and close HD channels on satellite. Those channels are owned by UKTV which I think is a spin off from the BBC.
The provided instructions serve as a good guide for mounting the TV on the stand and setting up the remote control. One thing to note is that the TV may not be easy for everyone to lift out of the box, despite the Sky Glass Air’s weight being about a third of the Sky Glass Gen 2 TV’s weight. One improvement that could be made is to have an ergonomically designed groove or recess in the back of the TV.
My soundbar fits perfectly in front of the TV, without obscuring the screen in any way when I sit down to watch. The delivery service was exceptional; within a couple of minutes of placing the order, I received a confirmation email with the delivery date and a link to track the progress via the AIT website. When clicking the link, it provides a host of additional upgrade options that can be added to the delivery schedule up to 5pm the day before delivery.

Plugging in other HDMI devices, such as a Fire TV stick, PlayStation, and a soundbar, was easy because the HDMI sockets are located sideways on the TV. All you need to do is follow the on-screen instructions, and the setup is completed within 5 minutes. The back of the TV has small indicator marks showing where the stand’s pegs need to go, which made lifting the TV onto the stand a breeze. Once the marks were lined up with the pegs, the TV slotted on easily.
Overall, the remote is a good upgrade on the original model that was previously provided with Sky Stream pucks and the original Sky Glass. The night before the delivery was scheduled, I was provided with a 2-hour delivery time slot via text and email. On the day of delivery, vegas casino app I was called by the driver when they were 30 minutes away. Because of there limitations of the hardware you get all the issues I have been experiencing for two years!! Slow menus, hanging and crashing, reboots, TV guide slowdown. It will be Ethernet wired so no issues there.
For some content, I’ve found switching to the vivid or extra vivid modes gives a brighter, more vibrant, and colourful picture. What’s good is that these settings are easy to change and play around with (and reset if you make a complete mess of it). Try searching ‘Sky customer service number’ …. I have been away from sky for nearly 18 months now and it appears to have gone downhill. Called up to see if I can get a new customer deal, got told as 18 months are not up (17 months!) , I am not a ‘new customer’ and quoted me an existing customer price! Decided to stick with Virgin Media who gave me a great deal and chucked in TNT sport for free.
It’s easy to navigate around Sky OS to find your desired content, whether using the remote or voice commands. I was well-versed in using voice commands with the remote on my Sky Stream puck; however, the hands-free voice control that the Air offers is a great feature, and I’ve tended to prefer that over the remote where I can. The remote control is the same version that comes with the Glass Gen 2, featuring extra definitions on the buttons compared to the original Glass/Sky Stream pucks. In particular, the little ridge between the volume up and down buttons makes it easier to select the correct option without having to look down at the remote. The buttons appear firmer, and there is a more pronounced clicking sensation when pressing the buttons.
How good is the backlight control on the global dimming? Is it fast or can you notice the light levels changing on cuts between shots of differing brightness/contrast levels? I had a Samsung TV which was very poor at this as it was especially noticeable when watching in a dark bedroom. I ended up having to go into the service menu and disabling it as it was so distracting. When using the built-in speakers, speech comes across crystal clear (perhaps helped by having the enhanced speech quality setting on). The built-in speakers are perfectly adequate for everyday TV use; however, big movie or music buffs may want to connect a soundbar for improved bass.
I found one of the frustations of Q was the fact that the mini box was getting very dated such that you could only get UHD off the main Q box. I guess there are no options for this right? I never understood why Sky wouldn’t just release an app I could use on my Apple TV and see all their content there. @Turribeach Doesn’t matter who your broadband provider is. If connecting via ethernet as you intend to make sure you turn WiFi off in the Settings. You don’t really ‘record’ either, so you are very much counting on the content providers to ensure the programme is available if not watched live.
Payment holiday only apply to credit items (such as mobile phone loans). So, uninstalled, reinstalled from Sky web page,,,,then the same thing…loading then the screen goes off.(4 times). @jean+james there seem to be several issues going on here. It’s a little difficult to understand what the engineer came to investigate and what their conclusions were. It’s probably best for you to speak to Sky again to let them know the problems aren’t fixed, and ask what the next steps are.
Could have been a good intro to the college football season before the pros start. College football could be close to as popular as the pros over here with a bit of promotion. But the issues with the system started to grate on myself and family right from the start.
That’s correct regarding the initial 2 year deal in 2023, last year the coverage started pretty much straight away. Hopefully we don’t have to wait till November again for a new deal. At the moment they are offering 6 months at £26 a month but again at 720p. @Yakuzah Many thanks for that, I knew it couldn’t all be perfect since I have some prior experience with Sky. I do acknowledge some customers are more picky than others and I am certainly one of them. I moved house so it was a good opportunity to review.
I didn’t upgrade the delivery; however, it’s nice to see the additional services (including unpacking the TV and placing it on the stand, wall mounting the TV, and recycling your old TV). I think that £15 to take away and recycle an old TV is great value for money for those who need it and can do without the hassle of finding a local recycling centre to take their old TV to. @molle22 You will find that similar to calling other large companies the start will be automated which may also try to send you here to the forum. Stay on the line as long as possible and don’t hang up. If necessary say nothing when the automated system asks you what your call is about as it should then route your call into a queue for the next available agent.
There is a Sky Go app on an Apple TV, as well as on Apple/Android phone/tablets and also on game consoles. I had no problems with buffering on my Gigabit Community Fibre connection with Sky Stream. The Ethernet port on the Stream puck is limited to 100Mbps but that’s more than enough. The problem I had with the puck was the sluggishness of the UI and random unreliability. If you’re a channel hopper then it’s still slower than Sky Q. It’s not bad but doing a lot of fast channel changing can cause the puck to freeze or glitch. If you’re methodical and don’t hammer it the puck can work really well.
